Pergolesi’s STABAT MATER

The Voice Area of the University of Texas at El Paso’s Department of Music presents the Stabat Mater by Giovanni Pergolesi. featuring members of the UTEP Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bohuslav Rattay; ten student vocal soloists, prepared by Brian Downen; the Cantare treble choir; Prof. Cherry Duke; and Jieun Newland, organ. Sung in Latin, this work depicts what Mary, the mother of Jesus, might have felt as she witnessed Christ crucified on the cross.
